Single-Phase and Three-Phase Autotransformers
An autotransformer uses a winding that is partly common to the input and output circuits. Voltage transformation therefore takes place through both magnetic and electrical coupling. This construction allows the unit to be smaller, lighter and more economical than a two-winding transformer with a similar rating.
Autotransformers do not provide galvanic isolation between the supply and load. They are suitable for applications where voltage must be increased, reduced or adjusted and isolation is not required by the installation or safety concept.
Inducto manufactures single-phase and three-phase autotransformers designed for the required voltages, power rating, load profile, operating conditions and mounting arrangement.

Industrial applications
Autotransformers are used to supply machines, test stations, automation systems and industrial equipment requiring a different voltage level. Three-phase versions are suitable for three-phase machines and larger technological systems.
Design and selection
Selection is based on input and output voltage, rated power, frequency, duty cycle, ambient temperature, cooling and degree of protection. Terminals, mounting, enclosure and additional temperature monitoring can be adapted to the project.
Important limitation
Where full electrical separation between input and output is required, an isolation transformer must be used instead of an autotransformer.
